The family of Martyr Ghorbankhani, along with several other families of martyrs, were among the special guests invited to a ceremony held in Tehran on Tuesday to commemorate the first day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah which marks the marriage anniversary of Fatimah Zahra (SA) and Imam Ali (AS), the daughter and son-in-law of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
During the event, the family of the martyr requested that the contract that contains the marriage vow of their daughter, Zeynab Ghorbankhani, be read by Ayatollah Khamenei, who also attended the ceremony.
After reading the vow, the Supreme Leader prayed for the couple: “Build your life together, be sincere and honest to have a joyful life.”
Martyr Majid Ghorbankhani, a defender of the holy shrines, was martyred in Khan Tuman, Syria, when he was only 25. His sacred body was returned to Iran three years after his martyrdom.
The term “the defender of the holy shrines” refers to Iranian volunteers who defend and protect holy Shia sites in Syria and Iraq from terrorist groups such as Daesh.
