With IHITT's launch with a private sector investment of $4 million, Iran and Uzbekistan also signed an agreement of cooperation in the field of technology worth $10 billion, IRNA reported on Sunday.
IHITT seeks to become a venue for introducing Iranian knowledge-based and technological products to Uzbek businesses.
Another mission for the IHITT is to help Iranian and Uzbek knowledge-based companies work within the framework set by the two sides’ governments.
Ruhollah Dehghani, Iranian Vice-President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, said at the inauguration ceremony held through a video conference this morning that historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and Uzbekistan is a motive for further cooperation among the knowledge-based companies in the countries.
Dehghani, who also serves as chairman of the National Elites Foundation of Iran, expressed hope that the IHITT would be a center for interaction between Iranian and Uzbek scholars to exchange their knowledge.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov who was present in the ceremony referred to the Sunday visit of the country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Iran, saying the visit will lay the grounds for further cooperation between the two nations.
Abdurakhmonov said his country is ready to expand relations with Iran in various fields including in modern technologies, artificial intelligence, energy, communications, agriculture and tourism.
He said the IHITT was needed to enhance bilateral cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan by exchanging technological achievements.
