In a statement on Thursday, Kanaani ruled out interventionist comments made by certain Western governments after Iran unveiled its Fattah missile, saying that those countries have a long history of violating international commitments on issues ranging from nuclear tests to the non-proliferation regime and atomic missiles.
He said those countries do not have the right to comment on Iran's legitimate defensive capabilities.
The spokesman said the AUKUS agreement signed between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia represent an obvious discriminatory approach by the US and the UK as nuclear powers to transfer highly enriched uranium and the technology related to it to a third party in contradiction of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Kanaani appreciated Iranian armed forces’ efforts to create effective deterrence power for the country in the face of foreign threats.
