Hajizadeh made the remarks during the unveiling ceremony of Fattah (Conqueror), Iran's first hypersonic missile, in Tehran on Tuesday morning.
“The missile that was unveiled today is unique in the world,” he said as he mentioned Russia, China, North Korea and the United States as the country that have already mastered the technology to manufacture hypersonic missiles.
He described Fattah as an all-encompassing missile featuring a warhead with a spherical engine, a solid fuel propulsion system, and a guiding system, adding that the hypersonic missile is ignited by a spherical propellant when it reaches the predicted range, i.e. within 100s of kilometers of the target.
Hajizadeh further explained that the missile has a movable nozzle that allows the missile to be guided in all directions. When this is done, he said, the missile can move to the left and right, up and down, and rotate above the Earth’s atmosphere.
“We are able to achieve any target within a distance of 1,400 kilometers,” he said, adding that there is no defense system in the world that can counter the missile.
Elsewhere in his comments, the general said that Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had proposed the name of Fattah (Conqueror) for the hypersonic missile in a session where he was briefed by IRGC commanders about the new achievement.
