In a message on his Twitter account on Sunday, Amirabdollahian wrote that he had held talks with Fidan on several occasions in the past while hailing the performance of outgoing Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
"I sincerely congratulate the appointment of my brother Hakan Fidan as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkiye. We have met and spoken times and again. He is a professional and wise diplomat. I tell my brother Mevlut Cavusoglu well done," he said.
After winning a recent presidential election, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed Fidan as foreign minister to replace Mevlut Cavusoglu who had served in the post from 2014.
That comes as Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber took part in Erdogan’s inauguration ceremony in Ankara on Saturday.
