Pakistan PM, Iran VP discuss barter trade in Ankara meeting

Islamabad, IRNA – Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has told Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Mokhber in a meeting in Ankara that the two countries should pursue efforts to implement a barter mechanism in their trade ties.

Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad said on Sunday that Sharif and Mokhber had held talks on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a day earlier.

During the meeting, Sharif described his recent talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in joint border between Iran and Pakistan as a step forward to consolidate trade ties between the two countries.

The premier noted that pursuing the barter mechanism would be beneficial for both nations, adding that Islamabad is committed to upgrading ties with Tehran.
