IRNA signs agreements with media organizations in Bulgaria

Sofia, IRNA – The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has signed cooperation agreements with the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and Bulgaria’s union of journalists.

The agreements were signed on Friday with a focus on exchanging news, sharing professional experiences, and implementing joint media projects.

After signing the agreements, IRNA’s CEO Ali Naderi and BTA’s Director General Kiril Valchev exchanged views about the possibility of bilateral business cooperation, including the production and sale of photos and multimedia products.

The two sides also discussed the prospects of IRNA using the capacities of the union of Balkan news agencies to reach the audience of this region of Europe.

Additionally on Friday, IRNA’s CEO signed an agreement with Snezhana Todorova, secretary general of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ), and Masoud Ahmadi, Iran’s cultural attaché in Bulgaria, to conduct online workshops for UBJ members.

IRNA and the UBJ also agreed to collaborate in the coverage of cultural, scientific, and educational programs planned by the cultural attachés of both countries.

Furthermore, Naderi participated in the opening ceremony of the Global Media Summit in Kazanlak, Bulgaria, upon the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart.

During the event, Iliana Yotova, vice president of Bulgaria, addressed the issue of misinformation and fake news, saying the only way to effectively combat the growing trend is through “increased media literacy and awareness.”
