The figure shows the country’s great potentials in health tourism, Mehdi Safari said at his speech to the first meeting of governors general of border provinces of Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan region on Thursday.
Safari said that the Iranian government has prioritized cooperation with its neighboring states.
He added that 12,000 foreign students are studying at Iranian universities in various fields.
Speaking about trade exchange between Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan region, Safari said bilateral economic relations had increased by15% in the year to March as he expressed hope that ties would further expand.
The first meeting of governors general of border provinces of Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan region started in the northwestern Iranian city of Orumiyeh on Thursday.
Iranian Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi opened the two-day meeting in which senior delegations from both sides took part.
The Iranian province of West Azarbaijan, where Orumiyeh is located, has 250 kilometers of joint borders with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
