He made the comment in a meeting with Abedin Khorram, the governor general of East Azarbaijan Province, northwest Iran. The meeting took place in the provincial capital Tabriz on Wednesday.
The ambassador said that the people of South Africa had kept monitoring the Iranian nation’s revolution and viewed it as a model for their own uprising against the apartheid regime in South Africa.
He also referred to ties between the Islamic Republic and South Africa, describing them as deep and saying that his country is committed to continue those relations.
The governor general of East Azarbaijan Province, on his part, said that the two countries can have good relations since both attach importance to the fighting against tyranny and racism.
He spoke about the good potentials Tabriz possesses in the economic, industrial and trade fields and the role the city plays in economic activities in Iran, saying that those potentials can be used as opportunities for the expansion of relations between the two countries.
