Raisi made the remarks in the joint press conference with the visiting Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Tehran on Tuesday.
The level of the bilateral trade relations is unsatisfactory, he said, noting that both sides could maximize the capacity of the common border to elevate the ties.
The Iranian president underlined that Iran and Turkmenistan have held very good negotiations in the field of energy.
He pointed out that Iran and Turkmenistan have a high potential and capability to boost their energy ties.
"In the field of water and electricity, good cooperation has been forged between the two countries. In the field of transportation and transit, both sides have made new decisions," the Iranian president added.
President Raisi said Iran's supplying technical and engineering services to Turkmenistan will increase.
He said Iran has good relations with the friendly and brotherly country of Turkmenistan.
The Iranian president, however, said that the current level of relations is not satisfactory and those ties could further be expanded.
The former Turkmen president, for his part, said that cooperation in the field of energy between Turkmenistan and Iran has been constructive and is at a good level.
Berdimuhamedov pointed out that the two sides discussed economic and trade cooperation.
He emphasized the role of joint economic committees, saying they are very important and Turkmenistan wants their decision to be operationalized.
The top Turkmen official added that the two sides had discussed the issue of energy, especially gas and electricity.
"We talked about electricity and its export from Turkmenistan to Iran," he said.
