Mokhber made the remarks in a ceremony at Tehran’s International Mehrabad Airport where he accorded a welcome to Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said.
While expressing hope that the visit to Tehran by the Omani Sultan will be fruitful for both nations, he said that banking issues are one of the main obstacles to the promotion of trade between Tehran and Muscat.
In the meantime, the Omani Sultan said that during his stay in the Iranian capital, he will explore ways for lifting of hurdles that have affected bilateral trade.
Underlining the need for more increased economic cooperation and joint investments, Sultan bin Tariq al-Said noted that once the challenges and banking obstacles are removed, economic exchanges and trade cooperation between Oman and Iran will be accelerated.
Sultan Haitham’s visit to Tehran, which comes at the invitation of President Ebrahim Raisi, marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two regional allies.
As many as four cooperation agreements in the fields of economy, investment, and energy are expected to be signed during the landmark visit.
