The Iranian Judiciary said in a Saturday statement that Sokhanvari had been executed earlier in the day under proper legal protocols.
The statement said the convict had been identified and put on trial in November 2019 after a report was sent to an Iranian court about an international trafficking network led by him that was operating in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
The corruption network run by Sokhanvari had registered a fake company to issue student visas for Iranian women and girls traveling to Malaysia, it said, adding that through his broad unlawful communications, he was able get visas and Malaysian citizenship for the victims.
He had also recruited a local staff member at Malaysia’s embassy in Tehran to advance his illegal activities, said the statement.
Due to its extensive influence, Sokhanvari's trafficking network was able to obtain two-month visas for women and girls only within 24 hours, it said, adding that according to his confessions, his illegal network had also used some of the girls to smuggle drugs and narcotics to Dubai.
