As president Raisi earlier stressed, in accordance with the international laws and the exact text of the Helmand Treaty, the government is determined to take the Iranians’ rights in all matters, Mehrabian told IRNA.
The official went on to say that the issue of water right is being followed up seriously.
He noted that Iran’s technical team is ready to determine the status of the water right from Kajakai Dam, as well as the status of the Kamal Khan Dam and the conditions of the Hirmand River from the Kajaki Dam, within the framework of international laws and the Helmand Treaty.
Earlier, President Ebrahim Raisi warned the ruling Taliban group in Afghanistan that they should not ignore the water rights of people living in Iran's southeast from the Hirmand (Helmand) river.
He stressed that the government is determined to defend the nation’s rights under a treaty signed in 1973.
He further urged the ruling government in Afghanistan to let the Iranian experts visit dams built on Hirmand to see if there is a shortage of water as claimed by Taliban officials.
