Najafi made the remarks on Wednesday in a meeting with Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Fernando Arias.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Fifth Review Conference of the Chemical Weapons Convention in The Hague, in the Netherlands.
Najafi elaborated in the meeting on the impacts of the cruel US sanctions on the health and treatment of war veterans in Iran who have been victims of chemical weapons.
The official called for full, effective, and non-discriminatory implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons while urging compliance with the principles of international cooperation, especially with regard to the exchange of chemical materials and equipment for peaceful uses.
The purpose of the Chemical Weapons Convention will not be achieved without the complete destruction of all types of chemical weapons and ensuring that the convention has a that and the universality application, he said.
Arias, for his part, reiterated the need to address the medical requirements of chemical weapons victims in Iran, adding that he would see to the issue in talks with relevant authorities.
