He made the appeal during a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on Sunday.
During the meeting, Amirabdollahian discussed the latest regional and international developments concerning the Arab country, especially a series of recent diplomatic endeavors including the quadrilateral meeting on Syria held in Moscow last week between the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey .
He also pointed to the fruitful trip of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Syria earlier this month, saying the visit was a sign that the Arab country has reached a certain level of sustainable security.
The top Iranian diplomat also appreciated the efforts of the UN special envoy to help establish peace and stability in Syria.
Pedersen, for his part, praised Iran’s role in fighting terrorism and contributing to the security of the region and Syria.
He also discussed his actions and endeavors as the UN special envoy for Syria to help normalize the situation in the Arab country.
