Amirabdollahian and Pedersen held talks at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran on Sunday.
Earlier, Pedersen met Iranian Foreign Minister’s Senior Advisor for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, especially a quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Turkiye and Syria held earlier this week in Moscow to work out a settlement to Turkish-Syrian disputes.
Khaji and Pedersen also exchanged views on the political processes and joint cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Nations in various fields to help resolve humanitarian issues in Syria.
Referring to the necessity of fighting terrorism and respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Khaji welcomed positive developments between Arab states and Damascus.
Geir Pedersen, who has visited Iran in the framework of regional talks, briefed the Iranian deputy FM on some of the measures taken by the UN on the issue Syria.
