Police Chief of the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan Brigadier Gholamreza Jafari said on Saturday that smugglers involved in the death of Major Mohammadreza Assadollahi earlier this week had been arrested.
Assadollahi was killed in an anti-narcotics operation in Bandar-e Lengeh, a major port on the Persian Gulf coast, on Thursday. He was chief station office at the nearby port of Charak.
Jafari said the hideouts of the suspects were identified in a complicated operation, adding that security forces had also seized two vehicles from the smugglers.
