Named after Martyr Ali Arabi, the airbase in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami.
Built by the aviation division of the IRGC Ground Force, the base is fit to accommodate various types of combat, assault, support, and rescue helicopters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the IRGC Ground Force, said the airbase will reinforce the force’s helicopter fleet for various defense, rescue, logistics, and relief missions in southeastern Iran.
The airbase has also been outfitted with all the necessary facilities and hangers to meet the helicopter fleet’s fueling, and repair and maintenance requirements.
