Europe Day a chance to reflect on Europe’s ‘horrible’ record: Iran

Tehran, IRNA- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said “Europe Day” presents an opportunity for the world to reflect on Europe’s “horrible” policies and its instrumental use of human rights.

“‘Europe Day’ is an opportunity to think about the horrible actions of some Europeans regarding the instrumental use of human rights, interference in the affairs of other countries, political and instrumental use of terrorist groups, support of the occupying Israeli regime against the Palestinian nation, and compliance with the inhumane sanctions of the United States against the Iranian nation,” Kanaani wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

The remark was in response to an “interfering tweet” by the Swedish embassy in Tehran, which claimed EU embassies worldwide are united in supporting Ukraine and the issue of human rights in Iran.

Europe Day is celebrated across Europe on May 9 each year in honor of a 1950 declaration by France that led to the founding of the body that was later named the European Union.
