The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) announced that over 3.07 million tons of commodities, worth over $691 million, were traded in its domestic trading and export halls in the week closing on May 5.
A total of 2.6 million tons of various products, worth over $454 million, were traded at IME’s domestic and export metal and mineral trading hall.

Iranian international Hossein Tayebi bagged a brace as Mallorca Palma Futsal defeated Benfica 4-3 in the UEFA Futsal Champions League semifinals. The Spanish club will host Sporting CP in today’s final in Palma Arena.
Sporting thrashed Anderlecht 7-1 in the other last-four clash earlier on Friday. Tayebi opened the scoring for Palma from the spot in the second minute after Benfica keeper Leo Gugiel brought down Cainan in the box.
-- Ancient city of Jajarm ranks among oldest human settlements
Jajarm is one of the most attractive cities in North Khorasan Province. The city has a long history and is considered one of the oldest human settlements in northeastern Iran. It has an area of more than 3,600 square kilometers, with a population of 36,000, according to ISNA.
Jajarm is a dry region, with a desert and semi-desert climate. Some parts of the heights in the north of the city are more than 2,000 meters in elevation, which have caused milder weather in the area.
Kalshour River in the region is a permanent river, but has a low amount of water and is very salty. The river flows into the desert plain in the south of the city.

IRICA: Annual Trade With SCO Tops $40.9bn
The latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) show that the country’s trade with SCO member states stood at 52.71 million tons worth $40.98 billion.
The figures show that Iran’s trade with SCO member states, excluding crude oil exports from the country, stood at 52.71 million tons worth $40.98 billion in fiscal 2022-23 (ended March 20), indicating a 3.91% fall in terms of weight, but a 10.26% rise in value compared with last year’s corresponding period.

Officials from Iran and Syria held talk on Saturday for relaunching the Iran Khodaro Industrial Group (IKCO)’s production line in the Syrian capital of Damascus. Chief Executive of Iran Khodro Industrial Group (IKCO) Alimardan Azimi, who has accompanied Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and a high-ranking delegation on a visit to Damascus, met and held talks with the Syrian Industry Minister Abdelqader Jokhdar on Saturday.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the latest situation of Syrian-Iranian Car Manufacturing Company LLC (SIAMCO) and the need to remove existing barriers in the field of production of cars.
-- Registration Begins for Iran’s National Qur’an Contest
Those willing to take part in the 46th edition of Iran’s national Qur’an competition can now sign up for the prestigious event. According to Mojtaba Jamali, an Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization official, registration for the contest started on Saturday.
Contenders can refer to the website Quraniran.ir to apply for the competition, he said. He added that they will compete in categories like Qur’an recitation, Tarteel, memorization (at four levels), translation, Adhan (call to prayer), Nahj al-Balagha, Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh and recitation of supplications.

-- Iranian Artists Forum shows “Reflections of Spain”
An exhibition of paintings by Iranian artists entitled “Reflections of Spain” (“Reflejos de España”) is currently underway at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran. The exhibit opened on Thursday during a special ceremony attended by IAF director Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpur, Spanish Ambassador Angel Losada Fernandez and a number of foreign diplomats and Iranian artists.
Hamid Pazuki is the curator of the exhibition, which is displaying works by 18 artists representing their ideas about Spain.
-- Blood donation rate at 26 per 1,000 people
The average blood donation rate in Iran is 26 per thousand people which places the country in a good situation among other countries. According to the World Health Organization, the median blood donation rate in high-income countries is 31.5 donations per 1000 people. This compares with 16.4 donations per 1000 people in upper-middle-income countries, 6.6 donations per 1000 people in lower-middle-income countries, and 5.0 donations per 1000 people in low-income countries.
Of the 118.5 million blood donations collected globally, 40% of these are collected in high-income countries, home to 16% of the world’s population.
-- Kumsai ritual observed in UNESCO-designated Uramanat
On Friday, the ancient ritual of Kumsai was held in the UNESCO-designated Uramanat, Kordestan province, western Iran. A large crowd of foreign and domestic tourists interested in learning more about this traditional ritual attended the ceremony, which was held near the shrine of Pir-e Shaliar, a local tourism official has said.
As part of the ceremony, tourists were treated to an exhibition of regional handicrafts and souvenirs, daf playing, folk music performance, and a poetry reading, Mansour Mehrzad explained on Saturday.
