The project was inaugurated during President Raisi’s visit to Khuzestan province on Thursday.
The 70-kilometer rail link, between Shush and Bamdezh, has been completed with a credit worth 40 trillion rials ($800 million).
The inauguration means that some 90% of the 140-kilometer two-track railway From Andimeshk to Ahvaz has been completed.
Double-tracking of the Ahvaz-Andimeshk railway is one of the important infrastructure projects in the energy-rich Khuzestan province.
Increasing the speed of passenger trains to 120 km/h and raising the annual load capacity of the railway from 10 million to 14 million metric tons are among the benefits of this project.
Raisi had ordered the construction of the second railway track from Ahvaz to Andimeshk during his first visit to Khuzestan in August 2020.
The president arrived in the southwestern Khuzestan province on Thursday to inaugurate a number of development projects during his two-day visit to the region.
