Islamabad, IRNA – Iran’s Consular General in Pakistan’s second-largest province, Punjab, met with local officials there on Thursday, expressing Tehran’s readiness to expand economic, trade and cultural relations with its eastern neighbor, especially with the Punjab Province.

Mehran Movahedfar met Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi in the provincial capital Lahore.

Both men hailed the current level of relations between Iran and Pakistan and expressed optimism on the further expansion of those ties, saying that the prospect of relations is bright.

They particularly discussed ways to develop economic and cultural relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Punjab, which is a key province located in central-eastern Pakistan.

Movahedfar referred to a sisterhood agreement between Iran’s historical city of Isfahan and Pakistan's Lahore, saying that Isfahan will host a handicrafts exhibition next week and invited Punjab’s chief minister to attend the event.

The invitation was welcomed by Naqvi who said that a delegation from Punjab will visit the exhibition.
