Quadrilateral talks in Moscow focus on lasting peace, security: Iran’s Defense min.

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani has said that the quadrilateral talks among Russia, Iran, Syria, and Turkiye were held in Moscow with the aim of achieving lasting peace and security in the region.

Brigadier General Ashtiani made the remarks after talks with the defense ministers of Russia, Turkiye, and Syria.

Iran and Russia’s efforts to normalize Turkiye-Syria ties was one of the goals of the quadrilateral meeting in Moscow, he said, adding that Iran is serious about the direct talks between Syria and Turkiye as two neighboring countries in the region and noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports joint efforts of two countries.

Pointing to Iran’s position as an influential country in the regional equations, Ashtiani highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always tried its best for creating peace, stability, and security in the region.

He reiterated that fighting against various forms of terrorism is the will of all nations in the region, and this issue will not be achieved except by cooperation and coordination of regional countries.

Quadrilateral talks were held in Moscow on Tuesday among Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani, Syrian Defense Minister Ali Mahmoud Abbas, and Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
