The Iranian Oil Ministry announced on Monday that the Russian delegation will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and will feature Governor of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina.
They will be in Tehran in mid-May to attend the petroleum industry exhibition, which will focus on investment and development plans for major oil and gas projects in the country.
Ahmad Asadzadeh, deputy oil minister for international and commercial affairs, said that the Russian officials will hold business-to-business meetings with their Iranian counterparts on the sidelines of the event, scheduled to be held on May 17-20.
The remarks came after Iranian oil minister Javad Owji in a phone conversation with Novak discussed the upcoming trip as well as bilateral cooperation in the banking, cargo transit, oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.
Asadzadeh said the forthcoming talks will also revolve around expansion of those ties, adding that the two sides expect to sign a series of contracts.
As two countries that are subject to Western sanctions, Russia and Iran have sought to expand their economic and energy ties in recent years.
