Iran's RCS reports 37% surge in output of strategic medical equipment

Tehran, IRNA - The Iranian Red Crescent Society (RCS) has registered a 37% surge in the production of strategic medical equipment in the calendar year to late March compared to the previous year.

CEO of RCS's Medical Procurement Organization Alireza Asgari said on Monday that production of strategic medical equipment by its subsidiary pharmaceutical company had risen by 21% last calendar year compared to the previous five-year average.

The company, known as SOHA, manufactured over 270 million syringes and needles, fistula needles, dialysis, and Thalassemia kits, and angiocaths over the year to late March, making it one of the largest producers of disposable medical equipment in Iran.

The pharmaceutical company has taken major steps in utilizing advanced production methods, and has managed to obtain CE marking for all its products.

CE marking allows SOHA to market its products in European Union countries and other markets that recognize the standard.

Iran has made significant headway in the medical sector despite decades of sanctions by the West.
