Brigadier General Majid Soja, the border guards commander in Iran's Khorasan Razavi province, said on Wednesday that more than 16 billion rials worth of contraband goods were seized from the smugglers.
He also said that the border guards are fighting fuel smuggling at the joint border with Afghanistan.
The official said that over 19,000 liters of fuel have been seized from the smugglers in the border city of Taibad over the past eight days.
The city of Taibad is bordering Afghanistan some 239 kilometers from Mashhad, the capital of Khorasan Razavi province.
