Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Hina Rabbani, Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the fourth foreign ministerial meeting of Afghanistan’s neighboring states with the participation of Iran and six other countries in the Uzbek city of Samarkand on Thursday.
Referring to the position Pakistan in Iran's foreign policy, he added that within the framework of neighborhood policy, Islamabad is one of the priorities in the foreign policy of the current Iranian government.
He also emphasized the need to pursue and operationalize previous agreements between the two countries.
Rabbani, for her part, outlined her country's vision on regional cooperation, expressing the importance of utilizing mutual economic potentials.
The two sides also reviewed the issues of cross border cooperation, trade expansion, economic collaboration, holding security consular committees, following the agreements of the Joint Economic Commission and mutual meetings of high level.
The second quartet meeting of Iran, Russia, China and Pakistan on Afghanistan was held before noon today (Thursday) on April 13 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries.
Amirabdollahian, Sergei Lavrov, Qin Gang and Hina Rabbani, were taking part in the meeting and discussed the current situation in Afghanistan.
The first quartet meeting was held on September 16, 2022 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
