Around 90,000 people have been pardoned under the decree by the Supreme Leader on the occasion of the 44th anniversary victory of the Islamic Revolution, deputy head of the Judiciary Sadeq Rahimi said on Wednesday.
The Supreme Leader issued the amnesty decree on February 5, 2023 in response to a request by Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje'i to pardon or commute the sentences of a large number of inmates held following the riots that broke out in September 2022.
