Amirabdollaian made the remarks during a phone conversation with his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi where they discussed bilateral cooperation and the latest regional and international developments.
They also reviewed the course of the talks in Vienna on the revival of the 2015 multilateral deal on Iran nuclear program and a subsequent removal of sanctions on Tehran.
The Iranian foreign minister referred to the longstanding relations between Tehran and Tokyo and welcomed bilateral cooperation between the two nations on different areas.
Amirabdollahian also touched upon the developments in Ukraine, stressing Iran’s principled stance in opposing war.
The Japanese foreign minister, for his part, welcomed the cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); Hayashi also invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Tokyo.
