Tehran, IRNA – Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazarpash and Russian President Aide Igor Levitin have discussed plans to increase the volume of cargo transit via the Caspian Sea and through the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
In a meeting held in Tehran late on Saturday, Bazarpash and Levitin also discussed cooperation on railway projects that could facilitate transit through the INSTC.
Bazarpash said during the meeting that maritime trade between Iranian and Russian ports has a very long history as he insisted that the two countries can use such a capacity to activate their ports in the Caspian Sea.
Bazrpash and Levitin had met in January to discuss the INSTC.
Levitin arrived in Tehran late on Friday for a two-day visit mainly to review progress on projects related to the INSTC.
In a meeting late on Saturday, Levitin also met Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber to discuss cooperation on energy and transportation projects as well as efforts to boost trade between the two countries.
