--Iran vows revenge for Israel killing second military advisor in Syria

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning to the Israeli regime on Sunday, vowing retaliation for the killing of two of its military advisers in Syria in an Israeli airstrike near Syria’s capital.
Earlier in the day, Iran’s IRIB News reported that an Iranian military adviser injured in the Friday airstrike succumbed to his wounds, becoming the second to fall victim to Israeli aggression.
Following the death of the second adviser, identified as Meghdad Mehghani, the IRGC issued a statement pledging that “Undoubtedly, the fake and criminal Zionist regime will receive a response to its heinous crime.”

-- Iran oil exports up 0.76% in February: IEA

Latest figures by the International Energy Agency (IEA) show that Iran continued to increase its oil exports in February despite the US sanctions.
IEA figures released on the agency’s website and cited in a report by IRNA showed that Iran had supplied an average of 2.65 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil to the markets in February, up 0.76% from export figures reported in January. The figures indicated that Iran had maintained a sustainable oil production capacity of 3.8 million bpd in February, meaning that the country can reach that capacity level within 90 days and sustain it for an extended period.

-- Iran’s foreign debt down 25.1% in year to March: CBI

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in its latest figures has put the country’s foreign debt at $6.497 billion, down by more than a fourth compared to figures announced in late March 2022.
According to CBI figures cited by ISNA, Iran’s long and mid-term foreign debt was $4.723 billion, accounting for 72.7% of total debt owed by the country to foreign banks and financial organizations.
The share of short-term debt from Iran’s total foreign debt dropped by 1.5% compared to late March last year, said the report by ISNA.

-- ‘Alone’ Nominated for Munich Film Festival

Iranian film ‘Alone’ has been nominated at the Munich International Documentary Film Festival in Germany. The 38th edition of the festival nominated ‘Alone’ by Jafar Najafi for the SOS-Kinderdörfer Weltweit Award.
The film was premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. The film narrates the story of a 14-year-old teenage boy who faces challenges between modern and traditional life.

-- Iran Marks 44th Anniversary of Landmark Referendum

Iran on Saturday commemorated the 44th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic on the back of a historic referendum, in which Iranians voted overwhelmingly in favor of departure from monarchical rule weeks after the collapse of the US-backed Pahlavi regime.

In a landmark two-day referendum held on March 30-31, 1979, more than 98.2 percent of eligible Iranians voted “yes” for the establishment of an Islamic Republic in the country. The vote, which was held less than two months after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, is considered a turning point in the modern history of Iran.

--Iranians win three medals at 2022 World Taekwondo Grand Slam

Three Iranian athletes claimed medals at the Wuxi 2022 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series on Sunday. Iran’s Arian Salimi won a gold by beating Emre Kutalmis Atesli of Turkey in the men’s +80kg.

Salimi began the match very strongly recording a 12-1 victory in the opening round. In the second round Atesli was able to land more points and a late head kick brought the score within 2 but it was not enough and Salimi won 12-10 to take the gold. Sanghyun Kang from Korea beat China’s Zhaoxiang Song 2:0 to win bronze.

-- Moscow exhibit represents Iranian art influence on Russian sculptors 

An exhibition underway at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow shows the impacts of Iranian art on the works of contemporary Russian sculptors.

Open since March 24, the exhibition is showcasing works of 80 prominent sculptors from across Russia, Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, a contributor to the exhibition, has announced.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Iranian cultural attaché in Moscow, Masud Ahmadvand, expressed his thanks to the Institute of Oriental Studies and Russian artists for organizing the exhibition, and said, “Organizing this exhibition at the beginning of Noruz, the Iranian new year, can be seen as a new chapter of cultural relations between Iran and Russia.” 

-- Over 1,700 idle production units revived in a year

As announced by the head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO), 1,714 idle production units were revived in the country during the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20).

Referring to the Leader's emphasis on knowledge-based employment last year, Ali Rasoulian said: “We have formulated a coherent operational package to support knowledge-based companies and considered incentives and advantages for giving land to such companies.”
