The Council on Adopting Stances of Basiji University Students issued a statement on Monday, as France is hit by weeks of protests calling for a halt to a pension reform plan pushed by the government of President Emmanuel Macron. So far, the government has refused to pay heed to the protesters’ demand to scrap the plan and has responded violently to the rallies.
Addressing Macron, the statement referred to his policies to escalate tensions in different Asian, African and Latin American countries, urging the French president to “act in the way he had advised for others".
The statement referred to a remark by Macron on developments in Lebanon in 2020 when he said “a revolution does not take place by a decree, but is built by people”, calling the French leader to “enjoy incidents in his country” instead of telling his people that “their protests are illegal".
The statement also urged Emmanuel Macron to hear the voices of his people who have been calling for change in economic policies for years now, saying that "they need dialog, not bullets".
