De Grecia, the former Queen of Spain and the mother of King Felipe VI, became aware of Haft Seen and other rituals on Nowruz festivities as she visited Iran’s pavilion at a diplomatic charity event held in Madrid on Saturday.
The pavilion was held on an initiative by female staff working in the Iranian embassy in Spain.
Iran’s Ambassador to Madrid Hassan Qashqavi briefed the Spanish royal family member about Nowruz rituals, including the traditional foods and handicrafts used during the ceremony.
Haft Seen features seven (haft) items whose names start with letter “س” which is the 15th letter in the Farsi alphabet.
