The second phase of the development plan of Abadan Refinery will be integrated on Friday with Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi in attendance.
Some $1.2 billion has been invested in the development plan in which a new refining train with a 210,000 bpd capacity will be added to the refinery.
The main objectives of carrying out this development plan were to complete the value chain and reduce the country’s vulnerability in the face of the imposed sanctions by turning crude oil and gas condensates to various oil products and improving the quality of the products.
As a result of the step, the refinery’s gasoline output is estimated to surge to 14 million liters a day, with gas oil production expected to reach 20 million liters a day, according to the managing-director of Abadan Refinery.
The plan is expected to increase the quality of the products to meet Euro-5 standards, reduce emissions, and decrease mazut production from 45% to 26%.
It will also lead to increasing LNG, oil gas, and gasoline production by 53%, 23% and 6% respectively, creating 7,000 jobs for local people.
