Nooruddin Azizi made the remark in a meeting in the presence of businesses of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province Tuesday night, noting that Afghanistan is seeking to develop trade exchanges with Iran.
According to the Afghan official, the Iranian and Afghan people have cultural, religious, and geographical commonalities.
Praising the Iranian people’s good neighborliness, especially during the invasion of Afghanistan, Azizi added that the country is an independent state now.
Afghanistan has had very good trade and transit of goods with Iran via two Iranian ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar in previous years, and now Afghanistan demands facilitation of the exchanges, he said.
Afghanistan and Iran possess a trade worth two billion dollars, he said, noting that Kabul urges to increase the volume of trade to 10 billion dollars per annum and that the capacity is available in both countries.
The Afghan official called for collaborations between specialists from both nations in scientific and technological arenas.
