Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Reza Fatemi Amin made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik.
Fatemi Amin expressed hope that his counterpart's visit to Tehran would pave the way for expansion of trade and economic ties between Iran and Belarus.
According to Fatemi Amin, Belarus and Iran are going to sign a memorandum of understanding on barter trade.
He said that some 80% of trade tariffs between Minsk and Tehran would be cut to zero after Iran's full accession to the Eurasia Economic Union, of which Belarus is a member.
The Iranian minister invited Rogozhnik to tour Iran’s export capacities exhibition which is planned to be held from May 7 to 10 in Tehran.
Rogozhnik, for his part, said that Belarus attaches great importance to the expansion of trade ties with Iran.
He said that since both countries are under heavy and cruel sanctions they should try to overcome the embargoes in order to show that other countries cannot harm them.
