The Iranian aircraft carrying the aid landed in Aleppo International Airport four days after the facility resumed operating following its temporary closure due to an Israeli missile attack a week ago.
Iran’s Consul General in Aleppo Salman Navvab Nouri told IRNA that the latest batch of humanitarian aid weighs 25 tons and includes medicine, foodstuff, milk powder and blankets.
He said that the latest consignment marks the 16th one Iran has sent to Syria since the devastating earthquake hit the country and neighboring Turkiye on February 6, killing some 52,000 people in both countries.
The Iranian diplomat added that his country has since dispatched a total of 447 tons of humanitarian assistance to the quake-hit people in Syria. Ten flights carrying such aid have landed in Aleppo, northwest Syria, he said.
