The MOU was signed on Friday during the visit of an IAU delegation visit of Islamabad to meet Allamah Iqbal University officials, by IAU International Affairs Deputy Dr. Jalal Derakhshe and Deputy AIU Head Raja Yunis.
In the signing ceremony of the MOU, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini, the Head of IAU Dr. Nasser Mahmud, Iran Cultural Attache' Ehsan Khazaie, Iran Consulate Hesam Khatami and a number of faculty members and professors of the host university were present.
Scientific and academic cooperation between the Iranian and Pakistani universities grew noticeably during the recent years.
During the course of the past few weeks along, a number of cooperation documents between different branches of IAU, Al Mustafa University and the University of Religions and Schools of Thought of Iran were signed with reputable Pakistani universities.
The IAU and Allamah Iqbal University based on this MOU will have cooperation in artistic, cultural, linguistic, and Persian literature fields.
Sponsoring joint conferences, exchanging university publications and research works, exchanging faculty members, researchers and university students, and arranging joint courses and workshops, too, are other parts of the MOU.
The Iranian ambassador said at the ceremony, "The economic and political relations between Iran and Pakistan have been growing and this is very promising that the Pakistani state officials, regardless of their political and ideological tendencies are trying to improve their relations with their Islamic and brother neighboring nation."
Hosseini added that both universities have very strong infrastructures and can improve their academic cooperation quite well.
Pakistan's AIU has already close cooperation with University of Tehran, Payam-e Noor, and University of Religions and Schools of Thought of Iran.
