The 1,000-bed hospital was opened on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by Raisi and Iran’s Health Minister Bahram Einollahi.
Mehdi Clinic, one of the largest hospitals in Iran and in the West Asia region, has 204 intensive care beds, 110 emergency unit beds and 42 beds for outpatient services.
The 18-storey hospital covers an area of 108,000 square meters in a densely-populated district of downtown Tehran. It is the largest health care project launched in Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The hospital will use the permanent services of 380 doctors and medical professors.
