-- Iran’s mining exports top $11b in 11 months
Iran’s mining industry has shown significant growth in exports, generating $11.1 billion in revenue during the first 11 months of the Iranian calendar year (starting from March 21).
Although there was a five percent decrease in the value of exports compared with the same period in its preceding year, the industry managed to ship 43.8 million tons of various products, marking a four percent increase in weight. Steel products, representing 46.8% of total exports, accounted for the largest share, valued at $5.2 billion.
-- Iran, Oman sign MoU on oil production
Iran and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in upstream and downstream oil production.
After meeting with Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji announced on Saturday that an agreement was signed between the national oil companies of the two countries.
-- Belgian court upholds prisoner exchange deal with Iran
Belgium's Constitutional Court turned down a request for the annulment of a treaty with Iran, which authorizes the exchange of prisoners between the countries.
"The court rejects the action for annulment," the tribunal said in a press release on Friday.

-- Filmmaker: Greeks Are Fans of Iranian Movies
Greek filmmaker Alexandros Costopoulos says people in Greece are big fans of Iranian films because of the “emotional connection” between the people of the two countries.
Speaking in an interview with Mehr News Agency, Costopoulos said Greek people watch many Iranian films as their emotions are similar to those of the Iranians.
-- Iranian Animation Steals the Show
By some accounts, the history of animation stretches back to the turn of the 20th century. However, the art finds its roots in antiquity. A 5,200-year-old vase found in Iran’s Burnt City in the 1970s features a series of five images that researchers have only recently identified as being sequential, much like those in a zoetrope. Giving it a spin, one would see a goat leaping to snatch leaves from a tree.
Fast-forward to today, Iranian animations have made significant progress. While the first modern cinematic animations were produced in Iran about a decade ago, thanks to efforts by Iran’s talented youths, the country’s animated movies have attracted the attention of a huge number of viewers.
-- TPOI: Trade Center to Be Inaugurated in Afghanistan
The head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) for the Indian subcontinent, Muhammad Sadegh Ghannadzadeh, announced the inauguration of the country’s trade center in Afghanistan on Saturday.
A 70-member Iranian trade delegation, composed of the public and private sectors, is scheduled to travel to Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul on Saturday, March 4, for the inauguration of the country’s trade center.

-- Iranian teams discover fate in 2023 Asian Club Volleyball Championship
Iranian women’s and men’s teams learned their opponents in the 2023 Asian Club Volleyball Championship. Women’s side Paykan are drawn with teams from Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Japan in Pool A.
Pool B consists of teams from Kazakhstan, Thailand, China, Mongolia and Hong Kong. The competition will be held in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam from April 25 to May 2.
-- “Upstay”, “Paper Offerings” top at Intl. 100-Second Film Festival
“Upstay” and “Paper Offerings” won awards for best films in different categories at the 13th edition of the International 100-Second Film Festival. “Upstay” by Colombian filmmaker Carlos Andrés Reyes shared the award for best fiction film with “La Nube” (“The Cloud”) by an unnamed director in the international competition of the festival.
“Upstay” is about two brothers who communicate using a tin can phone even when one of them is in the afterlife.
-- Tepe Hissar: a cultural gem linking Mesopotamia to Central Asia
Tepe Hissar is one of the first systematically excavated Bronze Age settlements in the northern Iranian plateau. Situated in the village of Heydarabad just south of Damghan in Semnan province, Tepe Hissar is noteworthy for its continuous occupation from the fifth to the second millennium BC.
Experts believe that Tepe Hissar is prominently positioned as a cultural link between Mesopotamia and Central Asia due to the quantity and complexity of its excavated artifacts and funerary practices.
