13th RCUWM governing board meeting kicks off in Tehran

Tehran, IRNA - The 13th governing board meeting of the UNESCO Regional Center on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) began with the participation of 15 countries and 8 international organizations in Tehran on Thursday.

The meeting is chaired by Iran's Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and attended by high-ranking officials of 15 other countries and 8 international organizations.

In this meeting, the ministers of Tajikistan, Iraq, and Bangladesh, as well as deputies and representatives of the water sector of Oman, Qatar, Armenia, Syria, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Türkiye, Switzerland, as well as eight international organizations and institutions have participated.

Earlier, deputy director of RCUWM-Tehran Alireza Salamat said that the purpose of this summit is to discuss the cooperation and participation of the member states in the center's programs, as well as to review and approve the projects, increase capacity building, and conduct research at the regional level.

RCUWM is guided and overseen by its Governing Board (GB) as the most important decision-making constituent at the highest level according to the agreement. The Centre’s GB member states were Ministers from Iran, Azerbaijan Republic, Germany, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Sri Lanka, Syria, Iraq, Oman Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, India, as well as representatives of 10 international organizations.
