Iran FM meets Iraq PMF, State of Law Coalition heads in Baghdad

Baghdad, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met and held talks with the head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Faleh al-Fayaz, and the head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad, Iraq.

During separate meetings, Amirabdollahian met and held talks with al-Fayaz and Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad on Wednesday.

In a meeting with Nouri al-Maliki, Iran's Foreign Minister officially invited him to visit Iran.

Stressing the significance of the ongoing relations between Iraqi and Iranian officials, Nouri al-Maliki called the bilateral meetings necessary to strengthen ties in various areas, especially in the security and economic fields.

He added that the Iraqi government is eager to continue its cooperation with all countries in the world, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Amirabdollahian is also scheduled to meet with the head of Iraq's Judiciary Faegh Zeidan to pursue the latest situations of the martyrdom case of Iran’s Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Earlier, Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Halbousi in a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation in the capital Baghdad emphasized that the legislative body supports relations between Iran and Iraq.

The two officials discussed Iran-Iraq relations and stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in different fields.

Also, Iran's top diplomat Hossein Amirabdollahian and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid in a meeting on Wednesday discussed Tehran-Baghdad ties.

During the meeting, Amirabdollahian called for the development of Iran-Iraq bilateral relations.

Amirabdollahian also met and held talks with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Amirabdollahian and Al-Sudani discussed Tehran-Baghdad bilateral ties, as well as several regional and international issues.

Appreciating Iran's role in supporting Iraq, the Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized his country's readiness to implement the agreements reached during his visit to Iran.
