Iran, China urge closer coordination to help sanctions relief negotiations

Tehran, IRNA – Senior officials from Iran and China on Thursday underlined the need for both countries to work more closely to help the course of talks on putting an end to the sanctions on Tehran.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and his Chinese counterpart Ma Zhaoxu met in Beijing on the sidelines of a visit to China by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

The two deputy foreign ministers highlighted the significant for all parties to adhere to their promises under a hard-won 2015 nuclear deal (known as JCPOA), noting that compliance with the talks has to be coupled with practical measures.

They also discussed issues of regional importance, as well as internationally significant issues, including the fight against terrorism and preventing the dominance of the Western narrative of human rights.
