--Iran urges US to lift Syria sanctions ‘immediately, completely’‎

The Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations in New York called on the United States to lift the ‎sanctions on Syria “immediately and completely” to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the quake-hit ‎Arab state.

The Iranian representative office urged the full removal of Washington’s unilateral coercive measures (UCMs) ‎against Damascus in a post on its Twitter account in reference to a communiqué by the Group of Friends ‎‎(GoF) in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations calling for the same thing in the wake of the recent ‎deadly and destructive earthquakes in Syria.

-- Iranian-made plane to make maiden flight soon

The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran unveiled plans for the maiden flight of a homegrown plane in the coming weeks.

CEO of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran Mohammad Mohammadi-Bakhsh announced that the country is pressing ahead with the production of passenger planes after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need to develop the industry.

-- IME weekly trade nears $757m

The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) announced that over 2.42 million tons of commodities, worth about $757 million, were traded in its domestic trading and export halls in the week closing on February 10.

A total of 2.04 million tons of various products, worth about $527 million, were traded at IME’s domestic and export metal and mineral trading hall.

-- Iran Rallies Deal Enemies ‘Strategic Shock’

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Sunday lauded the Iranian nation’s massive turnout in Saturday rallies to mark the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, saying protecting the country’s national interests and meeting people’s needs are its clear-cut strategy.
In a statement, the IRGC said the “enthusiastic and admirable” participation of millions of people in the rallies once again challenged the enemy’s miscalculation concerning Iranians.
It noted that safeguarding the country’s “national interests and responding to the needs of the people and the government are a definite and inescapable strategy of this revolutionary and popular institution.”

-- Iran Beat U.S., Finish 3rd in Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup

Iran’s national team finished third in the 2023 Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup held in Pretoria, South Africa. Iran played against the U.S. in a match held on Saturday that ended 4-4.
The Iranian hockey players then beat their American rivals 3-2 on penalties. Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth Hamid Sajjadi issued a message, congratulating the victory of the national hockey team in the world cup tournaments.

-- Parvizkhan Border Terminal’s Exports Exceed $720mn

Kermanshah Province customs official Qasem Matlabihas said that a total of 1.9 million tons of goods worth $724 million were exported from Parvizkhan Border Terminal located in the western Kermanshah Province to Iraq during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022-Jan. 20).
The exports included fruit and vegetable, dairy products, cakes and cookies, metal and plastic goods, tiles and ceramics, and construction materials.

-- Wartime drama on Abadan’s nostalgic theater named best at Fajr filmfest 

“Metropol Cinema”, a drama on a nostalgic theater in wartime Abadan, has won the Crystal Simorgh for best film at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival. Produced by Hamed Hosseini, the film tells the story of a group of people who struggle to keep alive the Metropol Cinema in Abadan, while the southwestern Iranian city is under siege by Iraqi forces in the early 1980s.

The theater, which was reduced to rubble during the Iran-Iraq war and never restored afterwards, is remembered with nostalgia by the generations of people who lived their youth in Abadan and surrounding towns. 

-- South Azadegan oilfield development accelerated

South Azadegan oilfield is located 80 kilometers west of Ahvaz (the capital city of Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province), near the Iraqi border. The oil reserves in this field are estimated to be around 25.34 billion barrels, and the recoverable oil is estimated to be around 1.7 billion barrels, taking into account the recovery factor of 6.6 percent.

The development process of the South Azadegan oilfield is done in the form of two development phases, that according to the targeting, the production in this field is supposed to reach 600,000 barrels per day.

-- Head of hockey federation Ghadimi asks more support

Bahram Ghadimi, president of Iran Hockey Federation, has asked the Ministry of Sport and Youth to support hockey more than before. Iranian men’s team took the bronze medal in the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup South Africa 2023.

The team led by Rajab Nourani beat the U.S. in the bronze medal match on Saturday. The match ended 4-4 in regular time but Iran won the game 3-2 on penalties.
