Ali Bagheri Kani who is visiting Lebanon said in Beirut in an interview with IRNA, "One of the axes of President Ebrahim Raisi's foreign diplomacy is promoting good neighborly relations, which means the focus of attention in our foreign policy is first the neighboring countries, and then the regional countries, and Lebanon is one of the major regional countries and in this visit consultations with Lebanese officials and harmonizing with them is pursued."
He said that during the past two days in Lebanon he has met and conferred with some top officials of that country, including the Parliament speaker and the foreign minister, and in those meetings both sides were agreed on the need to further improve comprehensive bilateral relations, particularly in the economic field.
The deputy foreign minister added, "As you know Lebanon is one of the countries in the resistance front, and resistance is one of the major elements in preservation of Lebanon's national security, which is the reason why resistance needs to be safeguarded to be able to play its major role in preservation of Lebanon's security."
Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani who had arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday met and conferred with a number of this country's religious leaders and party heads in addition to political officials and head of Palestinian resistance movement.
He left Lebanon for Tehran minutes after this interview.
