In an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, al Qassem said that the Resistance Movement has been influential in fighting plots by the Zionist regime in the region, adding that that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a geopolitical and effective force, has played an important role in this regard.
The scholar, who is a researcher in the Palestinian AL-Zaytouna Centre, said that West’s policy to isolate Iran will have negative consequences for the region, adding that strategic talks between Iran and Arab countries of the region is necessary to strengthen their bonds.
He said that it is only the Zionist regime that cannot coexist with others in the region.
Al Qassem added that the Zionists seek to dominate the countries of the region and to bring them into the US-Zionist domain of influence through normalization agreements that have been signed with some Arab countries in recent years.
He said Arab and Zionist officials have declared that these normalization agreements are meant to deal with the alleged danger of Iran's influence in the region, although they have hoisted the flag of supporting Palestinian to cover their real motives.
Referring to a recent move by the European Parliament to blacklist the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, he said that Europe's policies regarding issues like relations with Iran and the Resistance Movement are still in line with positions adopted by the United States and the Zionist regime.
He also said that Washington's withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal failed to cause any halt to Iran’s efforts to possess peaceful nuclear technology as he mentioned statements by senior Iranian officials indicating that the country’s uranium enrichment capacity reached 60% after Washington pulled out of the deal in 2018.
