On Sunday, the Beirut-based Al Mayadeen satellite television channel published a report on the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, writing that since the victory of the revolution in Iran up to now, the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been intertwined with the Palestinian people’s causes, which caused concern among the Americans and the Zionists, because the Iranian support is translated into a real threat to the Israeli regime and its advocates.
The embassy of Palestine was opened in Tehran on February 19, 1979, just a few days after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, when the Israeli flag was pulled down and the Palestinian flag was hoisted as a sign of the new phase of backing the Palestinian fights.
Imam Khomeini underlined in the first victory days of the Islamic Revolution that the revolution will not spare any effort in backing the revolution in Palestine; so, the Palestinian delegations were warmly welcomed in Tehran.
Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour mentioned that the most obvious move in Iran's support for the Palestinian cause was the hoisting of Palestinian flag in Tehran, symbolizing the liberation of the first part of Palestinian land.
Imam Khomeini designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds Day on April 7, 1979, noting that the Quds Day is the day of life for Islam.
The Islamic Republic did not merely rely on spiritual support for the Palestinian cause, because Iran approved a law in 1990 in support of Intifada or Palestinian fight to liberate Palestinian territories.
--Constant support for Palestine
The authorities of the Islamic Republic have shown determination in backing different resistance movements away from their religious differences and geographical distance.
Fathi Shaqaqi, the founder and Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, was of the opinion that Iran turned into an example of revolutionary Islam following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, whose goals and interests are completely intertwined with Palestine.
Iran has been backing Palestine in different political, military and media fields, as current Palestinian leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip Yahya Sinwar noted that Iran has provided the biggest financial, training and arms assistance to the Palestinian people, and that the Iranian support is strategic.
--Victory of Islamic Revolution
The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the few countries which rules out recognizing the Zionist regime, because Tehran is against the existence of the usurping regime in the Palestinian territories. Iran also dismisses so-called solutions such as two-state solution, which is in contradiction with the Palestinian political group's ideas and causes.
Iran has provided the Palestinians with various military equipment and training to help the oppressed nation stand against the Israeli aggressors and occupiers.
--Fears of the US, Israel
Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the United States and its pawn regime (the Zionist regime) have made all-out efforts to pave the way for toppling of the supporting revolution of the Palestinian cause.
Several administrations in the US have resorted to different methods such as economic sanctions and media campaign to prevent Iran’s military assistance for the Palestinians, but all these strides were doomed to failure.
Iran has used its special geopolitical circumstance in the region to defend Palestine; so, the Iranians' regional presence and their support for the Palestinian resistance movements created concerns among the Western powers and the Israeli regime.
