The top Iranian lawmaker was speaking at the 17th PUIC Conference (Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States) held on January 26-30 in Algeria.
Qalibaf told participants at the conference that Iran deeply regrets the incident that happened at the Azeri Embassy in Tehran on January 27.
He said that a thorough investigation is being conducted, and “close bilateral interaction” is underway.
“We have not found any sign suggesting that the incident was a terrorist attack. Yet, it is necessary to emphasize that emotional decisions regarding ties between the two countries is what their enemies and ill-wishers of the Islamic world, especially the Zionist regime, want,” the Iranian parliament speaker said.
He also urged vigilance about “any decision that could have long-term repercussions".
A gunman attacked the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tehran, killing a security guard and wounding two more.
