Salajegheh said on Monday that the conference on regional dust and sand storms will be held in keeping with guidelines set by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and upon a joint proposal by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Environment.
He also said the United Nations environment agency has approved the proposal for holding the conference in Iran.
Director of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), a UN-affiliated agency based in Tehran, said last year that the Islamic Republic of Iran is at the forefront of efforts to fight dust and sand storms in the region.
In an interview with IRNA, Letizia Rossano had praised Iran’s leadership role in fighting regional crises like dust and sand storms and expressed hope the APDIM and Iran could boost their cooperate in this regard.
“We will continue to collaborate with all relevant partners inside the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Rossano.
