Netanyahu, opportunity or threat?

While evaluating Benjamin Netanyahu's reemergence as the prime minister of the Zionist regime, it is always worth noting that extreme views adopted by him usually embarrass and irritate many allies and friends of the occupying regime and intensifies its isolation.

Netanyahu's insistence on ignoring international laws and regulations as well as United Nations resolutions on Palestine, his negative approach to the creation of an independent Palestinian state, his support for continued settlement construction on the Palestinian territories, his apartheid practices against Arabs and his disrespect for the Al-Aqsa Mosque are some of the main causes of current problems for the occupying regime of Israel when it comes to its relations with its allies.

These problems, which used to affect Israel's foreign relations during Netanyahu's previous terms as prime minister, have reappeared very soon in his new term in office.

Netanyahu's unusual moves during his first days in office caused the United Nations General Assembly to request an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the nature of Israel's occupation of Palestine.

That led to a vote in the UNGA in which the Arab and Islamic countries and even those who have entered the normalization process with the regime in Tel Aviv decided to support Palestine.

Results of a new poll carried out in 15 Arab countries by the Qatar Study Center show that 84% of those surveyed expressed their opposition to the normalization of relations with Israel. In some of these Arab countries, such as Algeria and Mauritania, the opposition to normalization was around 99%.

The next controversial action from Netanyahu's government was a decision by Ben Guer, who serves as regime’s minister of internal security, to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque and to insult the holy compound. That resulted in widespread anger in the people and authorities of Arab and Islamic countries.

The coincidence of some of these moves with the World Cup 2022 matches in Qatar led to more solidarity with the Palestinian nation and increased opposition to the Zionist regime, especially during a match between Tunisia and Morocco where reactions by fans heavily shocked the Zionists.

That comes as criticism of the Zionist regime by supporters of fans of non-Muslim teams such as Brazil and Portugal during the World Cup even caused some international analysts to believe that such incidents on the sidelines of the tournament effectively put an end to the normalization process between Israel and the Arabs.

Netanyahu has been grappling with some purely internal problems too, including his controversial appointment of weak customs managers, his failure to respond to the livelihood needs of the citizens in the occupied territories and issues such as rising inflation, rising prices of food and housing and growing administrative corruption have all exacerbated public dissatisfaction about his performance.

Perhaps it is for these reasons that the Times of Israel has predicted that the new term of Netanyahu's government will be short and the Zionist regime will soon be forced to search for a new government.

West Asian experts believe a reason for Netanyahu's extreme actions in dealing with the Palestinians and his gestures about confronting Iran's nuclear program are aimed at covering up Israel's internal problems, especially its economic woes.

Netanyahu's regime failed to create a global and even European consensus about its actions during the time of former US President Donald Trump and despite Trump’s close friendship with Netanyahu.

We should not forget about the extreme moves adopted by the White House during the Trump era, including the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem and a plan to work out the so-called Deal of the Century on the Palestinian issue.

During the Biden era, we can definitely see that the relations between the US and Israel are not as warm as before and Netanyahu's reemergence as prime minister would fail to create a global consensus in favor of the occupying regime.

Netanyahu's continued opposition to the revival of the Iranian nuclear deal is not something new. That comes as parties to the nuclear deal, including the United States, have adopted an indifferent position to Netanyahu’s stances toward the deal. Iran, however, continues its efforts and plans to reach maximum progress in the field of peaceful nuclear activity.

That is why many Analysts now believe that the presence of an extremist and irrational person like Netanyahu at the helm of the Zionist regime’s cabinet will mostly benefit the enemies of the regime, including the Palestinians, the Resistance Front and the Islamic Republic of Iran, rather than its allies.
